Snow, Snow, Go Away!

I made the mistake last week of commenting that I missed a good, knock-down drag-out blizzard.  We have been blessed with a mild winter for central Iowa, except for three or four weeks of bitter cold.  There weren't any significant snow storms.  I figured we were going to coast into spring.  Boy, was I wrong.

Freedom in Christ

For twenty-five years, I was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist church.  As of a couple of weeks ago, I am no longer a member of that church but now call myself a member of the body of Christ.  Here is the letter where I tried to explain, as simply and straightfowardly as possible, the major conflicts that I have found between what I have learned from the Bible and what the Ellen White and the Seventh-Day Adventist church teach.

Exploding Laptops

In the past few months, I've been aware of several laptop computers whose Lithium-ion batteries have exploded or caught fire.  I was pleased when, about a month ago, Dell began a battery recall that identified laptop batteries known to have problems (and I immediately verified that our several Dell laptops that we have at work do not have recalled batteries).  Shortly afterward, Apple announced its own laptop battery recall.  So why am I mentioning this now?  Two more laptops exploded this week, one at Yahoo! and one in Alan Cox's apartment.

HP Scandal: Private Information Should Be Private!

Patricia Dunn will soon be stepping down as the chair of HP's Board of Directors (while claiming she didn't know anything illegal was taking place, surprise, surprise).  Today,  California Attorney General Bill Lockyer said that there is enough evidence to indict not only the data brokers that performed the investigations but also people within HP itself.  The biggest news of the day is that HP's investigation also targeted HP employees, on top of journalists, their families, and HP directors.
