It's now been ten years since we set up house in Ames, IA. My last day of work at Dakota State University in Madison, SD was August 9, 1996. We spent Saturday evening, August 10 packing the truck (of which we are indebted to friend Mike Waldner for all his help that day). Sunday morning my family and Holly's brother Mark arrived to help us make the move, and then we were off in our caravan including the big yellow rental truck. |

Holly and I are fans of home decorating and do-it-yourself shows on channels like HGTV, Discovery Home, and PBS. I figure there are lots of worse things we could do with our free time, and once in a while we even get the urge to carry out some home improvement project. A couple of weeks ago, Holly got a new bedspread, pillows, sheets, and matching window coverings from JCPenny in what was a very good deal. Now, the fun begins: we've talked off and on about painting the bedroom a color other than white...

I used to think that putting kids to bed was no big deal: help them put their pajamas on, brush their teeth, read a story, and tuck them in. That's the theory anyway...
The funny thing is that it seems to work when someone else babysits our girls for an evening. The not-so-funny thing is that it never seems to be that easy for Holly and me.

David Crowder Band and Third Day performed at Stephens Auditorium in Ames Sunday evening. I have several Third Day CDs and hear them & David Crowder often on K-Love radio, and I really wanted to see the concert, so Holly graciously stayed with the kids while I attended. I sat in the fifth row, which was a fantastic vantage point. Wow - what a blessing for someone who enjoys their music!
